Types of Aid - Grants

Grants are financial aid that is free. Unlike loans, students don't have to pay these funds back. Federal, Michigan, and Calvin grants are based on a family's financial need according to the FAFSA.

Federal Grants

State of Michigan Grants

Funding for these grants is contingent on the Michigan legislature continuing to support these programs in the upcoming year.

*The MI Tuition Grant/Competitive Scholarship program is still in place, however it is unclear whether or not cuts to this program will impact our students. We are waiting for decisions to be made at the state level for further clarity, but are hopeful that this program will remain fully funded for our undergraduate students.


Calvin Grants

Denominational Grants

Because Calvin receives regular contributions from the families of the Christian Reformed Church, students who are members or whose parents are members receive a denominational grant. The amount of the grant, with some exceptions, is based on the distance of the student's home from Calvin's campus.
