Types of Aid - Diversity Awards

The following awards and scholarships are given to new students to advance the diversity of the student body at Calvin. Students who wish to be considered should indicate their interest by checking the appropriate box on the application for admission. Selection is based on the student's academic record, leadership potential, cross-cultural experiences, and ethnic and socio-economic background as demonstrated in the students admission file, including his/her written essays. These awards may be given in addition to the merit-based scholarships a student is eligible to receive.

MOSAIC AWARDS

• $6,000 per year
• Typical profile of students considered:
  • Strong academic record and granted regular admission to Calvin
  • Significant involvements, leadership, cross-cultural experiences and honors
  • North American ethnic minority student or a majority student from a culturally diverse background
• Renewable for four years with a Calvin GPA of 2.50
• Total award value: $24,000*

MULTICULTURAL AWARDS

• $3,000 per year
• Typical profile of students considered:
  • GPA of 3.00
  • Did not receive the Mosaic Award
  • North American ethnic minority student or a majority student from a culturally diverse background
• Renewable for four years with a Calvin GPA of 2.00
• Total award value: $12,000*

ENTRADA SCHOLARSHIPS

• $4,000 per year
• Typical profile of students considered:
  • Successfully completed Calvin's Entrada Scholars Program
  • Earned an overall grade of B- or better in Entrada
• Renewable for four years with a Calvin GPA of 2.00
• Total award value: $16,000*
