Computers Make Science Fun
More than a dozen Buchanan third and fourth graders along with a Calvin student helper work on computer-based science lessons. Tim Leugs, a December 2001 Calvin graduate, used the school district's science curriculum to design the lessons. Dr. Sue Hasseler, a Calvin education professor, explains that Education 191 has over 170 students who are required to do at least 15 hours of service-learning for the course. Several of these students enjoy the opportunity to work at Buchanan because of the large number of Spanish-speaking students, which adds to the challenge of trying to make learning fun. www.calvin.edu/academic/education/
