Through the college's community relations office, the Service-Learning Center, and the Provost's office, several projects continue in Burton Heights schools and organizations since the 2004 completion of a three year U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Office of University Partnerships (OUP) Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) grant.

Spanish for Neighbors
Basic Spanish lessons for English-speaking neighbors and business persons are offered at the SOURCE (Southwest Organization Uniting Resources for Community and Employees)1409 Buchanan Ave SW. in the fall and spring semesters. Sponsored by the SOURCE, the Burton Heights language working group, Garfield Development Corporation and Garfield Park Neighborhoods Association, these classes are taught by Calvin Spanish students.
