The Writing Nook

About The Writing Nook

The Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship, in cooperation with the Hekman Library, the Provost’s Office, and other Centers and Institutes, offers the Writing Nook as a way to create space and time for faculty to concentrate on their writing.

The Writing Nook will be open Fall 2016 in the Hekman Library from 2:00 – 5:00pm on alternate Mondays (September 12, 26; October 10, 24; November 7, 21; December 5) and Thursdays (September 8, 22; October 6, 20; November 3, 17; December 1). Anyone is welcome to participate on a drop-in basis, but participants who wish to receive a small stipend must submit a proposal that describes their writing project and weekly writing goals. They must also agree to turn off email, phone, and other electronic devices during the Writing Nook period; to spend each three-hour session writing and revising, rather than researching and reading; and to participate in at least six Writing Nooks. Tea, coffee, and writing consultations will be provided in HL407.

Applications for the Fall 2016 Writing Nook are due Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
