CCCS Writing Co-op - June 19-23, 2017

About the Writing Co-op

The Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship in cooperation with other Centers and Institutes and the Provost’s Office funds an annual 5-day Writing Co-op each June to provide Calvin College faculty with a protected space in which to advance or complete a specific writing project. Applicants must have begun writing the project on which they plan to work for the week and should propose a discrete project. They should expect to make substantial progress toward completing this project over the course of 5 days. Please note that conference papers and entire book projects are not eligible, although revision of conference papers for publication and book chapters, as well as other forms of writing, are welcome. “Writing” may be understood to include music, code, and other media, as well as words.

Collaborative as well as single-authored applications are welcome.

Expectations

Participants must agree to engage fully with the program from 8:45am to 4:30pm each day, including working in the Hekman Library sans email and other electronic distractions and participating in the communal lunches and conversations. They should not schedule any other commitments or visit their offices during the program hours. Participants are expected to spend the vast majority of their time actually writing and revising, not reading or preparing to write, although opportunities for brainstorming and working with an editor will be made available.

Upon successful completion of the Writing Co-op Week, participants will receive a $500.00 stipend.
