The Center exists to coordinate and provide leadership for the project of advancing and improving intentional Christian scholarship at Calvin College. Its purpose is to promote rigorous, creative, and articulate scholarship that addresses important theoretical and practical issues. To achieve this purpose, the Center offers two types of grants each spring:
The Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship funds Working Groups for faculty, staff, and alumni each academic year. Each Calvin Center Working Group is composed of 8-15 participants, from a variety of academic disciplines or professional fields, who meet monthly for one year to discuss common readings and to explore from interdisciplinary perspectives a particular issue, problem, or topic. Read more about working groups and how to apply.
The Calvin Center for Christian Scholarship funds a Small Grants program to encourage the initiation, continuation, and completion of scholarly projects related to the mission of the Center. Faculty are invited to apply for grants of up to $5000 in the following categories.
