Frequently Asked Questions
What is CalvinLink?
CalvinLink is an on-line system for posting jobs (mainly full-time opportunities) created by the
National Association of Colleges and Employers, the Direct Employers
Association, and powered by Symplicity software. This system features:
-
Ability to search for positions based on a variety of criteria. Employers can post jobs for free at Calvin, or they can pay a fee to post jobs system-wide, which then reach a large number of schools.
-
On-line storage of resumes, cover letters, and
other job search-related documents, including self-reported transcripts,
writing samples, graphics, etc.
- A seamless system for coordinating on-campus recruiting visits.
Employers: Posting a job for Calvin students/alumni to view
-
Create an account by clicking on "Employer" above and then "New users register here."
-
Your request for an account will be received, and our office will process that request. Once we've approved your request, you'll receive an email with your password. This should take less than one business day. If it's taking longer, please call us at 616.526.6485.
-
You can post your job for Calvin students/alumni for free on CalvinLink. For a nominal fee, you can also post your job to multiple schools.
-
If you prefer not to create your own account, we can create one for you. Email your job to us or fax it to 616.526.6502.
Employers: Post a part-time job or internship
CalvinLink is meant for posting jobs for college graduates. If you'd like to hire a current student for a part-time or temporary job, you can post your job on the JobShop, or you can post an internship opening through our office.
Employers: Scheduling an on-campus visit
We help employers schedule on campus interviews, information sessions, and displays. Our on-campus recruitment coordinator, Kristy Dykhouse, would be happy to help you schedule your visit. Contact Kristy for assistance.
Students/Alumni: Register for CalvinLink and complete your profile
-
Create an account by clicking on Student/Alumni link above, and select "New users register here." Go to the "Register" tab, and use your email address as your username and "career" as your password. Enter all of the information requested, and click submit. You will then be entered into the system.
-
A new password will be emailed to you. Use that password to log in to the system, and feel free to change your password to whatever you choose.
Students/Alumni: Search for a job
- Click on "Jobs," and then "CalvinLink Jobs." A list of jobs will appear below.
You can either do a quick search using the options provided, or you can click the "Advanced Search" tab for a more detailed search.
- We suggest going to the Advanced Search tab and searching for state where you're interested in working as the way to get the most results. If you choose too many categories, you won't get as many results!
Students/Alumni: Searching and signing up for an on-campus interview using CalvinLink
- Click “jobs” near the top of the screen, and then choose “CalvinLink Jobs.”
Under the "Show Me" drop down menu, select "All Interviews" and then click "Search."
- Click on the "Job Title" to find out more about the position. The date of the interview will also appear on the right side of this screen.
- If you wish to request an interview, on the upper right side of the screen is an "Application Status" box. You must select the resume you wish to use to apply, and then click "Submit." The employer will then be able to review your application and decide whether or not to interview you.
- When you log back into the system, you'll be able to see your interview status under the "Interviews" tab. The 3 possible statuses are "pending, invited, or not invited." If your status is "pending," the employer either hasn't yet reviewed your application or hasn't yet decided who to invite.
- If the sign up period has begun and you've been invited for an interview, you'll be able to select the time of your interview slot. You can also decline the interview from this tab.
- If you are selected for an interview, you should receive an email from the system 2 days prior to the start of the sign up day letting you know that you've been selected and providing you with the date that you can sign up.
