In addition, listen to the local news for serious crime trends in the community. If you live off campus, you can also join Neighborhood Watch. This organization will inform you of crime trends in your area.

TUESDAY 05-01-2007

  • At 11:15AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Spoelhof College Center.  A student was suffering from severe abdominal pain and nausea.  The victim was evaluated at the scene.  The victim elected to be transported to Health Services for treatment.
  • At 4:33PM a student reported that at 4:20PM on today's date he left his laptop unattended in a study cubicle on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when he returned at 4:25PM the laptop was missing.

 THURSDAY 05-03-2007

  • At 2:45PM Campus Safety investigated a two vehicle accident in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  A vehicle backing out of a parking space struck a vehicle traveling through the parking lot causing damage to both vehicles.
  • At 2:47PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the DeVos Communication Center.  A student was complaining of severe nausea.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to be transported to her residence hall room.
  • At 8:26PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance on the soccer practice field.  A student has suffered a shoulder injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and a friend agreed to transport the victim to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.
  • At 8:43PM Campus Safety received a report of a male subject climbing in a window on first floor Timmer Hall.  The student involved was identified and the information turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 11:10PM a student reported that in the last month they had received harassing and obscene phone calls on a daily basis.  The information on the calls was turned over to the Telecommunications Department for investigation.

 FRIDAY 05-04-2007

  • At 1:30AM Campus Safety found that the barricades used to temporarily block off areas of the north and south PE parking lots had been maliciously damaged.

 SATURDAY 05-05-2007

  • At 12:30AM Campus Safety received a report of subjects in the Nature Preserve.  The area was checked and five students were found in the area.

MONDAY 05-07-2007

  • At 1:58PM a student reported that sometime between 12:30AM and 2:30AM on Saturday, 5-5-2007 17 DVD's were taken from his unlocked residence hall room in Bolt/Heyns/Timmer Residence Hall.
  • At 2:07PM a student reported that at 1:45PM on today's day he left his watch at a computer workstation in the ITC.  The student stated that he returned 15 minutes later to retrieve the watch but found it missing.
  • At 23:55PM a student reported that at 10:45PM on today's date she left her backpack unattended in a study cubicle on the fifth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when she returned to the library at 11:15PM her Mac iBook laptop computer was missing from the backpack.

 TUESDAY 05-08-2007

  • At 6:06PM a student reported that at 5:15PM on today's date he left his laptop computer in a black carrying bag unattended near the stairwell on the fifth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated he went into the stairwell to take a phone call and when he returned 15 minutes later the laptop was missing.

 THURSDAY 05-10-2007

  • At 12:30AM Campus Safety received a report of suspicious persons near Boer/Bennink Residence Hall.  On arrival an intoxicated person was observed.  The subject was identified and the information turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 12:40AM a student reported that at 12:00AM on today's date she left her cell phone on a couch on the 5th floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when she returned for the phone at 12:15AM the cell phone was missing.
  • At 3:45AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 8:00AM Campus Safety investigated a report of unauthorized entry into Zeta/Lambda Residence Hall.  Maintenance reported that some time overnight a screen was removed from an unlocked window and entry was made into the building.
  • At 10:05AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Noordewier/VanderWerp Residence Hall.  A resident had suffered a head injury in a fall.  An ambulance was requested and the paramedics evaluated the victim at the scene.  A staff member drove the victim to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.
  • At 11:30AM a student reported that at 5:20PM on Wednesday, 5-10-2007 he left his backpack unattended on a table on the fifth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated he returned to the table a few minutes later the backpack containing his financial calculator was missing.
  • At 7:20PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at the East Beltline underpass.  A bicyclist had suffered multiple abrasions in a collision with another bicycle.  The victim was treated at the scene.

FRIDAY 05-11-2007

  • At 2:35PM a student reported that a few minutes earlier he was driving his vehicle north bound on East Campus Drive when several occupants of a south bound vehicle threw water balloons at his vehicle smashing the windshield.  The vehicle was located and the occupants identified.  The information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SUNDAY 05-13-2007

  • At 12:44AM Campus Safety observed subjects enter the Nature Preserve.  The subjects were located and identified.  The information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 4:05AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Noordewier/VanderWerp short term parking lot. 
  • At 11:40AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Beets/Veenstra Residence Hall.  A student was suffered from severe abdominal pain.  An ambulance was requested and the victim transported to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

MONDAY 05-14-2007

  • At 11:30PM a Food Service employee reported that sometime between 8:45PM and 11:15PM on today's date textbooks were taken from his unattended backpack which had been placed on a shelf in the hallway adjacent to Johnny's Café. 

TUESDAY 05-15-2007

  • At 12:20AM Campus Safety investigated a single vehicle accident in a parking lot east of the Prince Conference Center.  A vehicle traveling through the lot had struck a curb causing minor damage to the undercarriage of the vehicle.
  • At 12:55AM a student reported that at 12:00AM on today's date she left her iPod unattended on a table in the Hekman Library for a short time while she went outside to smoke.  The student stated that she returned to the table and at 12:50AM discovered that the iPod was missing.
  • At 3:15AM Campus Safety found three students sleeping on the soccer field adjacent to the track area north of the Fieldhouse.  The students were identified and sent to their residence halls.  The information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 1:04PM a student reported that at 12:30PM on today's date she left her wallet in the women's restroom on the second floor of the Commons Annex.  The student stated that she returned for the wallet 10 minutes later and found the wallet missing.

WEDNESDAY 05-16-2007

  • At 4:09AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Theta/Epsilon Residence Hall.  A student had fallen and had suffered a knee injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek treatment at a later time if needed.
  • At 4:20PM a student reported that at 2:30PM on today's date she left her laptop on a desk on the fourth floor of the library with a friend.  The student stated she returned to the desk at 4:00PM and found that the friend had left and her laptop computer and case was missing from the desk.  The student stated she checked with her friend and found that at 3:30PM the friend left the laptop unattended on the desk.

 FRIDAY 05-18-2007

  • At 10:10AM staff in the Fieldhouse reported that a men's basketball national championship banner was missing from the building.  The banner was last observed hanging from the ceiling over the main basketball floor on Monday, 5-14-07 or Tuesday, 05-15-07.

MONDAY 05-21-2007

  • At 7:36AM a student reported that at 11:30PM on Sunday, 05-20-2007 he parked his vehicle in the parking lot north of Theta/Epsilon Residence Hall.  The student stated that when he returned to his vehicle at 7:30AM on today's date he found the in dash AM/FM stereo had been removed from his vehicle.  The student stated that the vehicle had been left unlocked.
  • At 8:07PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance on the baseball field.  A student had suffered and ankle injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek his own treatment at a later time if needed.

 WEDNESDAY 05-23-2007

  • At 9:30AM Campus Safety investigated a report of a missing projector in Boer/Bennink Residence Hall.  The date the projector was last seen was unknown.

 SUNDAY 05-27-2007

  • At 4:45AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the upper Theta/Epsilon parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 9:08AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the chapel.  A Woodlawn CRC parishioner had fallen in the parking lot west of the chapel while carrying her 11 month old baby.  The victim and child were evaluated at the scene.  The victim declined any treatment.
  • At 7:34PM Campus Safety investigated a single vehicle accident in the Upper Theta/Epsilon parking lot.  A vehicle struck a no parking sign causing damage to the driver's side of the vehicle.

TUESDAY 05-29-2007

  • At 1:45AM Campus Safety investigated a possible unauthorized dumping of trash at Knollcrest East.  The information on the suspects was turned over to the Knollcrest East area coordinator.
  • At 8:57AM a staff member at the Admissions Department reported that his laptop was missing from his desk.  The laptop was last seen on the desk on Friday, 5-25-2007 and was reportedly secured to the desk with a lock down cable.

 WEDNESDAY 05-30-2007

  • At 3:11PM a visitor reported that at 2:50PM on today's date he left his laptop unattended on a table on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The victim stated he returned 20 minutes later and found the laptop missing.
  • At 7:55PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at the KE basketball court.  A student had suffered an ankle injury.  The victim was evaluated and treated at the scene.  The victim declined any further treatment at that time.
  • At 10:00PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at Noordewier/VanderWerp Residence Hall Lobby.  A conference attendee had suffered an ankle injury earlier in the evening.  The victim had already received treatment at a local Med Center and was requested additional ice to help with the swelling.

 THURSDAY 05-31-2007

  • At 7:15AM Campus Safety assisted a person wandering on campus attempting to contact a family member to pick them up.  A family member was contacted and agreed to pick up the subject.
  • At 10:15AM a staff member in the Hekman Library reported that at 5:30PM on Wednesday, 5-30-2007 she discovered that money had been taken from her purse that had been left in a file drawer all day.  The victim stated that the only time the purse was left unattended today was between 12:00PM and 12:30PM.
  • At 2:36PM Campus Safety received a report of a weapon in the grass near the Hekman Library entrance.  The area was checked and an airsoft pistol was found in the grass.  The pistol was found to have been used as a prop in a video shoot and was left on the ground when the video crew left the area.
