In addition, listen to the local news for serious crime trends in the community. If you live off campus, you can also join Neighborhood Watch. This organization will inform you of crime trends in your area.

SUNDAY 04-01-2007

  • At 3:54AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  Grand Rapids Police were contacted to respond to the scene.  The subjects were issued citations by the Grand Rapids Police and the information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

MONDAY 04-02-2007

  • At 3:35AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 4:52PM a Seminary student reported that at 12PM on today's date she left her computer bag unattended in a study cubicle on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The bag contained miscellaneous personal papers, CD's, but did not contain a computer.  The victim stated that when she returned to the cubicle at 1:00PM on today's date her bag was missing and another bag was left in place of the victim's bag.

 TUESDAY 04-03-2007

  • At 9:35AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Fine Arts Center.  A student had fainted while giving a presentation in a classroom.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to have a staff member transport her to her residence.

 WEDNESDAY 04-04-2007

  • At 1:30PM a seminary student reported that at 12:00PM on today's date he left his laptop computer secured by a cable in a study cubicle on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when he returned to the library at 1:00PM the laptop was missing.

 THURSDAY 04-05-2007

  • At 2:05PM a student reported that at 12:00PM on today's date he left his laptop computer in its case on his desk in his unlocked residence hall room in Beets Hall.  The student stated that when he returned to the room at 12:50PM the computer was missing from the case.

 SATURDAY 04-07-2007

  • At 6:50PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.  A student had suffered a neck injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek his own treatment at a later time if needed.

 SUNDAY 04-08-2007

  • At 7:30PM residents in Rho/Tau Apartments report receiving prank phone calls for the last week.  The information on the calls was forwarded to the Telecommunications Department for further investigation.

MONDAY 04-09-2007

  • At 3:30PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Boer/Bennink Residence Hall.  A student was reported as having difficulty breathing after coming back from working out.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek her own treatment at a later time if needed.

 TUESDAY 04-10-2007

  • At 1:00AM a student reported that her credit card was missing and that she had been informed of fraudulent use of the card.  The student stated that sometime after 12:00PM on Monday, 4-09-2007 she believes she may have lost her credit card somewhere between the Hekman Library and Johnny's Café.  When the victim discovered that the card was missing she looked in that area for the card but could not find it.  Later in the day it was reported to her that the card had been used at area businesses.
  • At 4:06PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Science Building.  A student was suffering from severe abdominal pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to be taken to Health Services for treatment.

 THURSDAY 04-12-2007

  • At 10:37AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Boer/Bennink Residence Hall.  A resident was reported to be suffering from a severe headache and dizziness.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to be transported to Health Services for treatment.

FRIDAY 04-13-2007

  • At 3:45PM Campus Safety investigated a report of a vehicle driving on a planted area in the west parking lot.  The vehicle was identified and the information on the owner was sent to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SATURDAY 04-14-2007

  • At 2:20AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Zeta/Lambda parking lot.  The information on the student involved was sent to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 5:42AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The information on the students involved was sent to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 6:27PM five Calvin baseball team members reported that some time between noon and 6:20PM on today's date money was taken from their unlocked lockers in the Fieldhouse.

MONDAY 04-16-2007

  • At 3:25PM Campus Safety received a report of a possible vehicle accident involving a cyclist near the Burtons Street entrance to the Knollcrest East apartments.  On arrival at the scene it was determined that a cyclist had fallen from his bicycle, struck his head, and was rendered unconscious.  An ambulance and the Grand Rapids Fire Department responded to the scene.  The victim was transported to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 TUESDAY 04-17-2007

  • At 1:50AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Bolt/Heyns/Timmer Residence Hall.  A student had suffered a hand injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to have a friend transport him to Saint Mary's Hospital for treatment.
  • At 10:15PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.  A student was reported to have suffered a seizure.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to be transported by a friend to Spectrum Health Blodgett for treatment.

 WEDNESDAY 04-18-2007

  • At 9:10AM Campus Safety responded to a report of a subject creating a disturbance in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  The subject was located and identified.  The subject admitted to being upset since he had just run out of gas for his vehicle.
  • At 8:22PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Fieldhouse.  A student had sustained a knee injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and a friend transported the victim to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

THURSDAY 04-19-2007

  • At 9:10AM a staff member reported that between 3:15PM and 5:30PM on Tuesday, 4-17-2007 her purse was taken from her vehicle while it was parked in the parking lot near the DeVos Communication Center.
  • At 9:32PM a student reported that some time between 6:00PM on Sunday, 4-15-2007 and 9:30PM on today's date one of the front headlights on her vehicle had been smashed while the vehicle was parked in the parking lot north of Theta/Epsilon parking lot.

FRIDAY 04-20-2007

  • At 5:00AM maintenance reported an unauthorized person in Heimenga Hall.  The identity of the student was determined and the information turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 10:50PM a student was reported to have created a disturbance in the area of the Noordewier/VanderWerp short term parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SUNDAY 04-22-2007

  • At 1:00AM Campus Safety observed a couch fire in the west parking lot.  The fire was extinguished.
  • At 11:45PM Campus Safety investigated a report of a missing set of maintenance keys for the Hekman Library Building.  Later in the morning the set of keys was turned in and reported to have been found in the area of Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.

THURSDAY 04-26-2007

  • At 3:45AM maintenance reported that the glass in the south door in Johnny's Café had been shattered sometime between 2:30AM and 3:34AM on today's date.

 FRIDAY 04-27-2007

  • At 1:50AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Bolt/Heyns/Timmer Residence Hall.  A student was complaining of chest pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to be transported to Metro Health Hospital by a roommate.
  • At 5:45AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Bolt/Heyns/Timmer Residence Hall.  A student was complaining of severe abdominal pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene by paramedics and declined any further treatment.

 SATURDAY 04-28-2007

  • At 2:10AM Campus Safety found that the press box on the lower baseball diamond had been entered  through an unlocked window and equipment from inside had been placed on the baseball diamond.

MONDAY 04-30-2007

  • At 1:19AM Campus Safety investigated a report of breaking glass in the area of Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.  It appeared that light bulbs and other material had been thrown from an upper floor room onto the ground below.  The students involved were identified and the information turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 4:00PM Library staff reported that a portrait hanging near room 306C in the Hekman Library was missing.  No information was available on when the portrait was last seen.
  • At 4:47PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the area between the Commons and Science Building.  A student had suffered a foot injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek treatment at a later time if needed.
  • At 9:12PM Campus Safety investigated a report of a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Beets/Veenstra Short Term Parking Lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
