In addition, listen to the local news for serious crime trends in the community. If you live off campus, you can also join Neighborhood Watch. This organization will inform you of crime trends in your area.

FRIDAY 09-01-2006

  • At 10:06AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Heimenga Hall.  A student employee had fainted and lost consciousness.  The victim was treated at the scene.
  • At 9:50PM a student reported that his wallet was missing.  The student believed he left the wallet in his room but may have taken it with him to a movie in the Fine Arts Center.  The student stated that he had checked the Fine Arts Center but was unable to locate the wallet.  The student was contacted the following day regarding the missing wallet.  The student stated that his wallet had been found and returned to him with all the contents.
  • At 11:03PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the area of the Heimenga Hall Loading Dock.  A student had suffered an ankle injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and transported by a friend to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 SATURDAY 09-02-2006

  • At 2:00AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the area of the Seminary pond.  A student has suffered a knee injury.  The victim was evaluated and transported to Metro Health Hospital by a friend for treatment.
  • At 11:15PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Rooks Residence Hall.  A student had suffered an eye injury.  The victim was treated at the scene and elected to have a friend transport her to Metro Health Hospital for further treatment.

 SUNDAY 09-03-2006

  • At 11:36PM a student reported that earlier in the evening she had received a prank phone call.  The information on the call was turned over to the Telecommunications Department for further investigation.

MONDAY 09-04-2006

  • At 10:53AM a student reported that just a few minutes prior he had gone to his vehicle parked in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The student stated as he approached his vehicle he heard glass breaking and observed a subject by his vehicle holding a heavy object.  The subject ran toward the Lake Drive entrance.  The student stated that he found passenger rear window of his vehicle broken and nothing missing from the vehicle.  Grand Rapids Police were contacted and came to the scene to make a report.
  • At 3:13PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Phi/Chi Residence Hall.  A student was suffering from an allergic reaction.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and arrangements were made to transport the victim to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 WEDNESDAY 09-06-2006

  • At 2:40PM a student reported that sometime between 10:00AM and 5:00PM on Sunday, September 3, 2006 three bottles of cologne were taken from his unlocked room in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.

 FRIDAY 09-08-2006

  • At 12:15PM Campus Safety investigated a two vehicle accident in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  A vehicle backing out of a parking space was struck by a vehicle traveling through the parking lot causing damage to both vehicles.
  • At 4:48PM Campus Safety assisted College Store staff with an incident of larceny of textbooks.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SATURDAY 09-09-2006

  • At 3:05AM Campus Safety observed a vehicle enter campus that appeared to have been involved in a recent collision.  Grand Rapids Police were contacted to come to the scene.  The driver was arrested for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
  • At 11:23AM Campus Safety responded to a fire alarm in Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.  A room smoke detector was found to have been maliciously activated.  The room was vented and the alarm reset.
  • At 11:24AM Campus Safety received notification that an ambulance had been requested to respond to Beets/Veenstra Residence Hall.  The resident was complaining of severe abdominal pain.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
  • At 12:32PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Noordewier/VanderWerp Residence Hall.  A student was having an asthma attack.  An ambulance was requested and the victim transported to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 SUNDAY 09-10-2006

  • At 1:30PM residents of a second floor Noordewier Hall room reported that sometime around 3:30AM on today's date they had heard a crash but did not investigate.  The residents stated that they now found a broken window in their room when they opening the drapes.  The window was temporarily repaired and a maintenance requested entered.

TUESDAY 09-12-2006

  • At 9:20AM a staff member in the Business and Economics Department reported that two framed posters were missing from a computer lab in North Hall.  The posters were last observed in the room on Friday, 9-1-2006.
  • At 6:00PM Campus Safety investigated a single vehicle accident in the East Beltline parking lot.  A vehicle had struck the safety phone pole causing minor damage to the pole and the vehicle.
  • At 8:10PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  A student had fallen while skateboarding and had suffered a hand injury.  The victim was treated at the scene.

 THURSDAY 09-14-2006

  • At 9:40AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Science Building.  A student was suffering from nausea.  The victim was treated at the scene and elected to be escorted to their residence hall room.

 SATURDAY 09-16-2006

  • At 10:25PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at Timmer Residence Hall.  A student had suffered an ankle injury earlier in the day.  The victim was evaluated and advised to seek treatment at a local med center or hospital emergency room.

MONDAY 09-18-2006

  • At 7:55AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.  A resident was complaining of nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.  The victim was evaluated and elected to seek her own treatment at a local health clinic.

 TUESDAY 09-19-2006

  • At 1:00AM a resident of Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall reported receiving a prank phone call.  The information on the call was turned over to the Telecommunications Department for further investigation.
  • At 7:45AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Schultze/Eldersveld Residence Hall.  A student was complaining of severe abdominal pain.  An ambulance was requested and the student was transported to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.
  • At 4:33PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at the east intramural field.  Two students had collided while playing soccer and both suffered head injuries.  Transportation was arranged for the two victims to be transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment.
  • At 3:30PM a staff member at the HPERDS Department reported that sometime between 8:35PM on Monday, September and 3:30PM on today's date a bag of soccer balls was taken from the Athletic Department storage shed.  A report was filed with the Grand Rapids Police regarding the theft.

 WEDNESDAY 09-20-2006

  • At 9:30PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Fieldhouse.  A student had suffered a knee injury.  A friend agreed to transport the victim to Spectrum Health Blodgett for treatment.
  • At 11:25PM a student in Schultze/Eldersveld Residence Hall reported having received several prank phone calls earlier in the day.  The information on the calls was turned over to the Telecommunications Department for further investigation.

 THURSDAY 09-21-2006

  • At 1:15PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance near the Campus Store in the Commons Building.  A visitor had suffered an ankle injury.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to seek medical treatment at a local Med-Center.

 SATURDAY 09-23-2006

  • At 2:30AM Campus Safety found an abandoned unlocked bicycle near the west entrance of the Fieldhouse.  The bicycle was impounded for safe keeping.
  • At 11:45AM a student reported that she was missing money from her purse. The victim believed the money was taken from her while the purse was unattended in the Fish House during a concert on Friday, 9-22-2006.
  • At 9:55PM a Food Service employee in the Commons reported a possible leak in a compressed gas cylinder.  A leak was found in a pressurized line and the source valve was closed.  Maintenance was contacted to repair the line.
  • At 10:22PM roommates reported that a student had been missing since Friday, 9-22-2006.  They reported that the student's friends had been contacted but the student was not found.  A report was filed with the Grand Rapids Police Department.  On Sunday, 9-24-2006 a call to the roommates found that the student had been located and the police report closed.

MONDAY 9-25-2006

  • At 2:22AM Campus Safety observed two students activated two safety phones on the west side of campus.  The students were identified and the information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 11:35PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Commons.  A student was complaining of severe knee pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to have a friend drive her to a local hospital for treatment.

 TUESDAY 09-26-2006

  • At 3:20PM a resident of Boer/Bennink Residence Hall reported that on Friday, 9-15-2006 she returned to her unlocked residence hall room at midnight and found that her digital camera was missing.  After looking for the camera and checking with Lost and Found the camera now appears to have been taken from the room.

 WEDNESDAY 09-27-2006

  • At 10:10AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at the north entrance of Johnny's Café.  A student had fallen on some stairs and sustained an ankle injury.  The student was treated at the scene and elected to seek further treatment later if needed.
  • At 6:50PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the area near Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.  A student was complaining of severe knee pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and assisted to her residence hall room.  The victim refused any further treatment.

 FRIDAY 09-29-2006

  • At 11:33AM a student in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall reported that sometime before 11:30AM on Thursday, 9-28-2006 his backpack was taken from his residence hall room.  On Saturday, 09-30-2006 the student reported that the backpack had been found in a classroom in the Science Building.
  • At 1:00PM a Seminary student reported that on today's date at 11:00AM he left his laptop computer on a desk on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when he returned at 1:00PM the laptop computer was missing.  The laptop computer was described as a black Dell Inspiron.

 SATURDAY 09-30-2006

  • At 1:00AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 4:30AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the East Beltline parking lot.  The information on the three students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
