In addition, listen to the local news for serious crime trends in the community. If you live off campus, you can also join Neighborhood Watch. This organization will inform you of crime trends in your area.

 WEDNESDAY 11-1-2006

  • At 12:26AM a faculty member in the Art Department reported that several art supplies had been taken from an art studio in the Spoelhof College Center in the last few weeks.  The room had been left unsecured during that time period and is now being secured after hours.
  • At 3:43AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the East Beltline parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 11:00AM a student was observed in the area of Jonny's Café.  The student had been banned from the Commons area and the information was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 2:21PM a visitor reported that at 10:45AM on today's date she had parked her vehicle in the west parking lot.  The visitor stated that when she returned to the vehicle at 2:10PM she found damage to the rear bumper of her vehicle.
  • At 2:45PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Campus Store.  An employee had been found unconscious in the store.  An ambulance was requested and the victim transported to Metro Health Hospital.
  • At 5:49PM a student reported that at 3:50PM she left her laptop unsecured in a bag on a table on the third floor of the library.  The student stated that when she returned at 4:30PM the laptop was missing from the bag.

 THURSDAY 11-2-2006

  • At 6:30AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Beets/Veenstra Residence Hall.  A student was suffering from fatigue brought on by medication imbalance.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and residence hall staff transported the victim to Spectrum Health Blodgett for treatment.
  • At 8:00PM Campus Safety observed damage to the lawn area on the south side of the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot apparently by a vehicle driving on the lawn.
  • At 11:00PM a student reported that at 7:30PM on today's date he left his laptop chained to a table on the fifth floor of the library.  The student stated that when he returned at 9:30PM the power supply for the laptop was missing.

 FRIDAY 11-3-2006

  • At 12:45PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medial assistance in the Knollcrest Dining Hall.  A food service employee was complaining of not feeling well.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and elected to have a relative transport her to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.
  • At 3:02PM a seminary student reported that sometime between 8:30AM and 5:30PM on Friday, October 20, 2006 the stereo was taken from his vehicle while it was parked in the east Seminary parking lot.
  • At 4:30PM Campus Safety observed a subject attempting to remove a vehicle immobilizer from a vehicle in the PE north parking lot.  The vehicle had been immobilized since there were numerous unpaid parking violations issued to the vehicle.  The subject was identified and the information on the student turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SATURDAY 11-4-2006

  • At 7:30AM Campus Safety observed several traffic and informational signs on campus that had graffiti spray painted on them.  Maintenance was contacted and removed the graffiti.
  • At 6:55PM maintenance staff at the Fieldhouse reported that drug paraphernalia had been found in one of the restrooms.  The items were sealed for safekeeping and destruction.
  • At 10:35PM Campus Safety responded to the area of the smoking pit near Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall on a report of a suspicious person in the area.  A former student was found in the area but was not causing any problems or concerns.

MONDAY 11-6-2007

  • At 3:39PM a student reported that his wallet was missing and that he may have left the wallet in a room in North Hall at 12:30PM on today's date.  The student stated that he went back to the room and was unable to find the wallet.

 TUESDAY 11-7-2006

  • At 9:00AM Campus Safety investigated a report of an unauthorized entry into the Spoelhof College Center.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 9:40AM Campus Safety investigated a report of two fraudulent vehicle registrations.  The information on the students involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 3:03PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Spoelhof College Center.  A student was reported to have suffered a seizure.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and transported home by a relative.

 WEDNESDAY 11-8-2006

  • At 4:30PM a student reported that at 4:00PM on today's date he left his unattended laptop in his backpack in a study cubicle on the fourth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that when he returned at 4:25PM the laptop was missing from the backpack.

 THURSDAY 11-9-2006

  • At 6:55AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Kalbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 1:45PM a student reported that her room mate told her that between 7PM and 8PM on Saturday, 11-4-2006 her cousin had been seen in their residence hall room going through the student's belongings.  The student was informed that the cousin had banned from campus and that Campus Safety should be contacted if the subject is again seen on campus.

 SATURDAY 11-11-2006

  • At 12:50PM Campus Safety responded to a request for assistance at the exercise room in the Fieldhouse. A person entering the room had refused to provide ID. The subject was located and the policy regarding proper identification was reviewed.
  • At 9:05PM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in Beets/Veenstra Residence Hall.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

 SUNDAY 11-12-2006

  • At 5:05AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the Fine Arts Center Parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.  The two non students were issued appearance tickets by the Grand Rapids Police Department.
  • At 11:45AM Campus Safety observed damage to the lawn area west of Bolt/Heyns/Timmer Residence Hall.  The damage appeared to have been caused by a vehicle driving on the lawn.  The Grounds Department was contacted to repair the damage.
  • At 2:45PM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in Beets/Veenstra Residence Hall.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 4:20PM Campus Safety observed a broken chair in the area between Beets and Veenstra Residence Halls.  It appeared that he chair had been thrown from the sundeck.
  • At 9:38PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Rooks/VanDellen Residence Hall.  A student had suffered a laceration on his left arm.  The victim was evaluated at the scene and transported to Spectrum Health Blodgett by a staff member.

MONDAY 11-13-2006

  • At 12:30AM Campus safety received a report of subjects in the new volley pit between Rooks/VanDellen and Schultze/Eldersveld Residence Halls.  The students were identified and the information turned over to their Resident Director.
  • At 2:23PM a student reported that at 2:15PM on today's date he left his backpack on a table on the fifth floor of the Hekman Library.  The student stated that he returned to the table five minute later and discovered that his graphing calculator was missing from his backpack.  The calculator was described as a black T-89 Graphing Calculator.

 TUESDAY 11-14-2006

  • At 3:30PM Campus Safety investigated an incident of fraudulent vehicle registration in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  The information on the vehicle owner was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 5:09PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the lower athletic fields.  A student had suffered an ankle injury.  A friend agreed to drive the victim to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 THURSDAY 11-16-2006

  • At 1:50AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the East Beltline parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 7:00AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus weapon policy in the Kalsbeek/Huizinga parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 11:46AM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in the Chapel.  A visitor had fallen in a stairway and had suffered numerous lacerations.  An ambulance was requested and the victim transported to Spectrum Health Butterworth for treatment.
  • At 12:15PM Campus Safety investigated a vehicle accident involving a skate boarder striking a parked vehicle in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  A friend agreed to drive the victim to Spectrum Health Blodgett for treatment.

 FRIDAY 11-17-2006

  • At 2:30PM a student reported that in the evening of Thursday, 11-16-2006 she left her backpack in the Knollcrest Dining Hall.  The student stated that when she returned for the backpack at lunch on today's date she found her iPod and cash missing from the backpack.

 SATURDAY 11-18-2006

  • At 10:28PM Campus Safety observed a subject near the Fine Arts Center that had been banned from campus.  The subject was escorted off campus.

TUESDAY 11-21-2006

  • At 3:20PM a student reported that some time on the evening of Monday, 11-20-2006 or on today's date money was taken from his wallet.  The student stated that his wallet was left unattended yesterday for several hours in the Fieldhouse while he played basketball.  The wallet was also unattended for several hours in the student's unlocked residence hall room.
  • At 11:00PM Campus Safety observed a pizza delivery vehicle driving recklessly on the campus sidewalks and campus roadways.  A description of the vehicle was obtained and the information was given to the manger of the pizza company for followup.

WEDNESDAY 11-22-2006

  • At 10:00PM a student reported that 0n Tuesday, 11-21-2006 she may have left her purse in the DeVos Communication Center computer room or in the Knollcrest Dining Hall.  A check of both places failed to locate the purse.

FRIDAY 11-24-2006

  • At 4:50PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance in Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.  A student was complaining of severe abdominal pain.  The victim was evaluated at the scene.  An ambulance was requested and the victim transported to Metro Health Hospital for treatment.

 SATURDAY 11-25-2006

  • At 12:30PM Campus Safety responded to a request for medical assistance at the seminary.  A student worked had suffered a hand laceration.  The victim was treated at the scene.
  • At 2:05PM Campus Safety investigated a hit and run vehicle accident in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  The driver of the vehicle that left the scene was located and the information turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

SUNDAY 11-26-2006

  • At 4:45PM Campus Safety found that a building sign marking Noordewier/VanderWerp Residence Hall was missing.  The sign was removed from the base located near the roadway by the residence hall.
  • At 11:00PM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the upper Theta/Epsilon parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.

MONDAY 11-27-2006

  • At 6:38PM a resident of Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall reported that sometime between 3:30PM and 5:30PM on today's date cash was taken from his unlocked room.
  • At 6:47PM a resident of Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall reported that sometime before 9:00PM on Tuesday, November21, 2006 his iPod was taken from his unlocked room.  The iPod was described as a black video iPod.

 TUESDAY 11-28-2006

  • At 9:14PM two students reported that in the last month money was taken from their unlocked rooms in Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.

 WEDNESDAY 11-29-2006

  • At 1:05AM Campus Safety investigated a violation of the campus alcohol policy in the East Beltline parking lot.  The information on the student involved was turned over to the Judicial Affairs Office.
  • At 2:51PM a seminary student reported that at 11:00AM on today's date he left his laptop computer secured to a desk on the fifth floor of the library.  The student stated that when he returned at 2:30PM the security cable was found to be cut and the laptop computer was missing.  The laptop was described as a new model black Compaq.
  • At 4:26PM a student reported that sometime between the evening of Sunday, 11/27/2006 and 7:00PM on Monday, 11/28/2006 his iPod was taken from his unlocked room in Kalsbeek/Huizinga Residence Hall.

 THURSDAY 11-30-2006

  • At 10:50AM a student reported that at 12:30PM on Monday, 11-20-2006 she left her laptop computer and case in the entryway of Knollcrest Dining Hall while she was at lunch.  The student stated that when she returned for the laptop at 1:00PM the laptop was missing from the case.  The laptop was described as a white Apple iBook.
  • At 11:45AM a student reported that at 3:30PM on Wednesday, 11-29-2006 she left her bag in the pool locker room of the Fieldhouse.  The student stated that when she returned at 6:00PM on the same date she found the bag containing her cell phone missing.
  • At 4:30PM Campus Safety investigated a three vehicle accident in the Fine Arts Center parking lot.  A vehicle backing out of a parking space struck a light pole.  The light pole fell on two parked vehicles causing damage to both vehicles.
