Our
Mandate |
The Campus Accessibility Advisory Committee
shall serve the College in an advisory capacity in matters concerning
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities
Act of 1991 as they relate to campus facilities.
Specific duties shall include, but shall not be limited to, the following:

Serve as the official committee to which accessibility requests
and issues of noncompliance can be brought by students, staff, faculty,
and alumni.

Review requests and issues of noncompliance and provide recommendations
to the Vice President for Administration and Finance for necessary
changes to existing facilities.

Provide long-range goals and priorities to the Vice President for
Administration and Finance for further development of campus accessibility.

Review all campus renovation and new construction projects and advise
the College Architect regarding accessibility issues.
Reporting Relationship
The Campus Accessibility Advisory Committee shall report to the Vice
President for Administration and Finance.
Composition
Eight members: one faculty member; the Director of Student Academic Services,
who shall be the chair; the Coordinator of Student Disability Services;
the College Architect; one parent of a student with a disability; a representative
from the physical plant staff; a Calvin Information Technology representative;
and one student with a disability.
