Broene Educational Team - Discussion Group for Gay & Lesbian Students

B.E.T. exists because we see a real need for dialogue and understanding in the Church today. We are responding to the CRC's mandate to "lift the taboo" regarding people who experience same-sex attraction, and in attempting to do that, we are also responding to requests from people within our community. They asked that we utilize our educational resources to inform, uplift, and create an atmosphere of dialogue and respect. In all that we do, we seek to fortify the ministry of Calvin College, the Christian Reformed Church, and the church universal.

CRC's 2002 Synodical Report on Pastoral Care for Homosexual Members

We want to facilitate change in ways that are scripture affirming, mutually edifying, and in keeping with a reformed worldview. This is not an advocacy group. It is not a decision-making group. Pressure to adopt a particular position or engage in a specific action would violate our parameters. We are, however, deeply devoted to dialogue, educational growth, and understanding between community members. We do not seek division, but unification.
