14069 Sense and Sensibility Sandberg, Stephanie 11/8/2006 Script adapted from Jane Austen's novel by Heather Brown
and Stephanie Sandberg. Directed by Stephanie Sandberg

Set in the shift between Classicism and Romanticis m Jane Austen's classic novel asks the question, “Can we be rational in love?” Adapted for numerous stage, film, and television productions, Calvin Theatre Company's Sense and Sensibility emphasizes the novel's innate dramatic qualities, often sharp satirical wit, and the complicated road to love in a society where wealth was considered an indication of character and a little gossip could go a long way.

14717 Women of Lockerbie, The Sandberg, Stephanie
A mother from New Jersey roams the hills of Lockerbie Scotland looking for her son's remains which were lost in the crash of Pan Am flight 103. She meets the women of Locker bie, who are fighting the US government to obtain the clothing of the victims found in the plane's wreckage. The women, determined to convert an act of hatred into an act of love, want to wash the clothes of the dead and return them to the victim's famili es. Although the characters and situations in the play are purely fictional, The Women of Lockerbie is loosely inspired by a true story. Written in the structure of a Greek tragedy, it is poetic drama about the triumph of love over hate.

13931 Disciples Sandburg, Stephanie 1/21/2006 'Disciples', in an honest, raw narrative style, describes the eleven disciples' reactions and responses immediately following the crucifixion. The video includes conversation with playright Andras Visky.

12634 Post-Modern Christian Resurgence: Too Much, Too Early? Sanneh, Lamin 3/31/2005 Confidence in a century of Western missions was on the wane when, in the 1960s, the current Christian resurgence kicked in, catching us off guard. Is that loss of confidence too far advanced to be reversible even by mounting evidence of an unflagging resurgence? What are the implications of the gulf between a resurgent post-Western Christianity and an increasingly post-Christian West?

9/27/1997 Calvin College's Multicultural Year of 1996-1997 provided an opportunity for facult and students to gian greater appreciation for various cultural expressions and to work co llaboratively with various ethnic communities in planning lectures, recital, exhibits and performances held on campus. The Alarabara World Arts Series, sponsered by the Calvin College Music Department and Multicultural Affairs Committee, seeks to further Calvin's growing appreciation of the variety of cultures and traditions represented in the performing arts. The word Alarabara is from the Yoruba language of West Africa and mean colorful. Consistent with this meaning the series invites all to appreciate the diversity of ethnic and cultural expressions and to join in this artistic celebration of the unit to which Christ has called us. He fears that the unmitigated explosion in "instant communication" is unraveling the moral fabric of society.
