14147 Panel on Worship with the Least of These Burger, Steve; Cornelison, Joan; Schuringa, David; Smith, Kathy 1/26/2007 Jesus described our actions toward “the least of those brothers and sisters of mine” (Matt. 25:40) as ministering to Jesus himself. He even said when he returns in his glory, the way we have dealt with those in need will have eternal significance. Many churches have developed important ministries, but how are those ministries connected to communal worship? This session will offer ideas and resources so that the whole community in worship can better minister to our children, those who are disabled, and those brothers and sisters who are not present with us because they are in prison.

And what ever happened to the U .N.-backed agreements that have already been made? Did they change anything? These are not mysteries to the people living there. Palestinian Legislative Council member Hanan Ashrawi explains the fatal flaws in the negotiation attempts.

13603 People, Pipes and Players Hamersma, John E. 1/4/2006 Do emotions have sound? How does a pipe organ work? How can it sound both like a rock concert and a flute? Why are some pipes the size of pencils while others are as tall as telephone poles?
John Hamersma speaks about the past and future of the organ, the "King of Instruments". This multi-sensory presentation is dynamic and, John assures us, not just "an old man talking about pipe organs"! This mu lti-media presentation is a collaboration of many talents including Daniel Garcia (from Calvin's Communications, Arts & Sciences Department) who is serving as executive director of the presentation and Carl Hordyk (from Calvin's Office of Conferences & Campus Events) who is serving as the technical director.
John retired in the spring of 2004 from his position at Calvin College as Professor of Music and College Organist after 50 years of teaching in the classroom and the organ studio, accomp anying worship on campus and performing. He is currently serving his 31st year as Organist/Choirmaster at Grace Episcopal Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
