13936 Making Choices: The Dutch Resistance During World War II Eman, Diet; Muller, John; Timmer, John; Witte, John 4/1/2005 The producer of this widescreen DVD explores the dramatic lives of four Dutch Americans of west Michigan who resisted the seemingly overwhelming power of the Nazis during th e occupation of the Netherlands (1940-1945). The documentary tells their stories of fear and courage, danger and faith, despair and trust in their Lord as they hid Jews and other fellow citizens on the run, and outwitted the Nazis. They candidly reveal wh at motivated them to risk everything to protect total strangers and the heavy price they paid for resisting Hitler and his henchmen. The story of one of the participants, Diet Eman, earlier was the subject of the book, 'Things We Couldn’t Say.' The others are John Muller, John Timmer and John Witte. Producer/Director Robert Prince, a Western Michigan native of Dutch origin, teaches journalism at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks. Running time 57 minutes.

40 Making Good Choices in the World of Contemporary Music (s) Stam, Carl 1/15/2001 The last decate has overwhelmed us with thousands of songs, hymns, and anthems for use in our congregations. How do we sort through it all? How do we make good choices? T his session will explore these questions by presenting a dozen well-crafted examples of music drawn from a variety of contemporary sources. Many of these examples will be drawn from the worship life of the Chapel Hill Bible Church, whre Carl Stam, a clas sically trained musician, led his congregation in music that ranged from Maranatha to Marty Haugen, from Graham Kendrick to J.S. Bach.

The hearing as well as the preaching of God's Word should comfort, challenge , correct, inspire, and deepen the faith and life of God's people. Much time is spent in preparing to preach well, but too often the proclamation of Scripture is among the least prepared and least engaging parts of public worship. This day will explore wa ys of presenting Scripture with excellence and imagination, including reading (and coaching of readers) and reciting, in dramatic forms, and in combining song and speech

15998 Managing Water in the Netherlands Schaap, Siebe 4/16/2009 Dr. Siebe Schaap gave a public lecture on managing water in the Netherlands. The Netherlands is recognized world-wide as a leader in water management technology and policy. Because much of the country is below sea level and is the delta for three major rivers, the Netherlands has always faced flooding hazards from both sea and rivers. Global warming adds to these hazards. The lecture is part of Dutch Heritage Month.
Dr. Schaap is chairman of the Water Board, Groot Salland, The Netherlands, Chairman of the Federation of Dutch Water Boards and Member of the Dutch Parliament. He is a leading expert on water management issues in the Netherlands.

Easter Sunday claims the year’s highest attendance at most churches. Why doesn’t the miraculous story of Christ’s resurrecti on and its implications bring everyone back for more the following week? #615 MEDIA MONOPOLIES Originally broadcast Feb. 19, 2006
In the U.S., anyone with the money can buy a TV station and broadcast their views to the country. This rare freed om may actually be stealing freedom from viewers, argues Tim Dean, formerly of the British Broadcasting Corporation and currently director of the World Media Trust. Why not require fair reporting so that viewers are given the freedom to judge for themselv es, he asks host Karen Saupe?
