11755 Heart of Black Preaching, The La Rue, Cleophus 1/27/2004 Though far from perfect, black preaching is regarded in many circles as the most vibrant, imaginative and communicatively effective preaching on the scene today. In fact, ho mileticians see much that is admirable and attractive in black preaching. If studied for more than its cosmetic effects of style and delivery, or its more widely known feature of celebration, black preaching has something of note to contribute to traditio nal homiletics in the 21st century. Cleophus J. LaRue, Princeton Seminary’s Francis Landey Patton Associate Professor of Homiletics, specializes in the theory and method of African American preaching. He will address the need for appreciation of and understanding between all homiletic traditions to make for stronger preachers, irrespective of ethnicity, gender, regional differences and denominational ties. 10410 Seeing the Truth: Picture Books as Visual Parables Ladwig, Tim 4/19/2002 Referring to his own work in books such as "Psalm 23" and "The Lord's Prayer," Ladwig explores the ways in which his visual narratives contribute to a ch ild's--and an adult's--understanding of the meaning of biblical passages. Illustration, in Ladwig's work, is a means of extension, and he examines the implications of such extensions in his books, suggesting how those implications might work out for other s who use biblical material in a children's work. He will draw from his own experience as the son of Joe Lapchick, the famous Original Celtic center who became a legendary coach for St. John’s and the Knicks. 11495 We Have this Treasure: A Theology of Disability Larson, Linda, MAT 9/25/2003

14362 Revisiting the "God of the Gaps" Larson, Ronald 9/21/2007 Antipathy to "God of the Gaps" arguments, when taken to its extreme conclusion, leads to passiveness in the face of aggressive, naturalistic, science seeking to c laim for itself alone all truth, including that traditionally the province of theology or philosophy. Such pretensions must be resisted for the sake of science as much as for the sake of theology, and this resistance must not shrink from calling attentio n to “gaps” or failures of science to explain credibly all that it sometimes claims as its own. This talk will explore the issues surrounding several chasms in modern scientific explanations, including the fine tuning of natural laws, the ori gin of life, of human consciousness, of morality, and of human spiritual experience.
Ronald Larson is Chair and George Granger Brown Professor of Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Kidnapped on March 7, 1984, he spent 11 months in solitary confinement until his escape on Valentines Day, 1985. While a hostage, Jerry experienced a spiritual transformation from a "culturally assimilated Jewish-American atheist" to becoming a follower of Jesus. After his escape to freedom he embarked on a campaign of writing and lecturing on the futility of violence as a means of resolving individual, social, cultural or political issues. 10182 Valentina Lisitsa & Alexei Kuznetsoff Lisitsa, Valentina; Kuznetsoff, Alexei 1/26/2000 Lisitsa and Kuznetsoff make beautifully nuanced music with two pianos, raising the phenomenon of multiple pianos above gimmickry to artistry. When they met at the Kiev Conse rvatory, they each had already won both national and international recognition in solo piano and chamber music competitions. When this Ukrainian piano duo exploded onto the American musical scene in their formal debut in Miami in 1991, their flawless ense mble and unified musicianship captured the enthusiasm of audience and critics alike. Last year's appearance on The January Series was part of a 29-city tour. They are back this year by popular demand. Technical Services : Not Available for sale. None : Not Available for sale. 13638 Testimony as Practice: Implications for Preaching, Worship, and a Christian Way of Life Long, Thomas G. 1/27/2006 C11 The way we talk in worship affects the way we talk in the rest of our lives, and vice versa. 14553 Plenary #3: Ernso Jean Louis Louis, Ernso Jean 2/1/2008 My country Haiti has been, and still is, for as long as I can remember the poorest country in the western world. 65% of the population is born again Christian, yet nothing has changed in the day-to-day lives of the people. What can be done?
The answers lie in the hands of a new breed of missionaries, young men and women who are willing to go in those developing countries in order to show these people how to fish and n ot to give them a fish everyday like it has been in the past.
I want to encourage others to get involve in what several sociologists have called the 'Quiet Revolution', helping others to become sustainable.
