Discovering the Language and Heritage of Spain and Hispanic America

Students talking

Modern Spanish culture traces its roots to the medieval kingdoms that emerged during the Reconquista, the eight-century-long crusade to regain the Iberian Peninsula from the Moors. Modern Hispanic America has similarly emerged from conflict as a region of nations whose multicultural heritage has enriched the world. Spanish is the fourth most widely spoken language in the world and is rapidly becoming the second language of the United States, a point worthy of consideration at a time when Christians are called to practice hospitality in global contexts.
