Psychology
Probing the "Why" of Human Behavior

Student in class

Throughout history, philosophers, physicians, poets, artists, and theologians have grappled with the mystery of the human mind and human behavior. But not until people began to apply scientific methods to the study of human behavior did a “science of the mind,” a science called psychology, develop. Psychology is the study of the whole person as that person interacts with a complex environment throughout the course of their lifetime. At Calvin, the Christian pursuit of psychology compels a belief in the uniqueness, the sanctity, and the moral responsibility of each individual person as God’s special creation.
