Medicine and Dentistry Treating both the Body and the Spirit

Student outside

Of all the marvels of God’s creation, the human body is incomparable. Its physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual capacities make it unique and complex. Much study and research has gone into understanding the complexity of human beings. As a result we are living longer than previous generations and many diseases have come into check. The challenge remains, however, to combat many more diseases that plague us, such as AIDS, cancer and mental illness. The need for preventative medical care and focused research continues. Calvin College aims to prepare women and men to serve in a profession that needs healers and diligent workers. It is the privilege of Christian doctors to affect the spirit as well as the body—healing in the name of Christ, the greatest Healer and Physician of all.
