EDUC-236   The Young Child in Edu Setting

F, even years. This course introduces Early Childhood students to current research and theory on development of children from pre-birth to age eight. Theories include those related to the physical, cognitive, social, emotional, aesthetic, and spiritual/moral domains of development, presenting a comprehensive understanding of the whole child in various ecological contexts. The course also introduces students to various observation and data collection techniques. Students combine knowledge of child development research and theory during observations of children from birth through second grade in various early childhood settings in the community. Students analyze development and write assessment reports with recommendations for facilitating child development.
