Classical Languages
Exploring the Roots of Christianity and Modern Culture

Prof. Ken Bratt in class

The world of ancient Greece and Rome was the world in which Christ and the apostles lived, and the world from which the early Church emerged from insignificance to a universal witness. Anyone who wants to understand in depth the transforming power of the Christian gospel in history will want to study that ancient world.

The Classical Languages Department at Calvin offers a variety of majors and courses designed to provide a basic linguistic mastery of Greek and Latin as well as an introduction to classical literature.
