The Science Behind
Many Careers

Prof. Bonnema in the lab

Biology is the science of living organisms; it explores their structure, function and origin. The biologist examines organisms to discover what they are made of, how they are put together, how they "work," how they respond to each other, and how they interact with their physical environment.

Studying biology at Calvin equips students to assume their roles and responsibilities as servants and stewards of God's creation. Students become better prepared to address some of the most pressing issues in the next century—genetic research, environmental ethics, immunology - issues that have their roots in biology.
