Lilly Vocation Project

In January 2002 The Lilly Endowment, Inc gave Calvin College a five-year grant to build understanding of and commitment to vocation for all college students and to strengthen the college's work with students interested in church-related ministry. Calvin received the Lilly Vocation Project grant under the Theological Exploration of Vocation Program, part of a national program to strengthen work on vocation in undergraduate education.

The Lilly Vocation Project team is composed of teaching faculty, student life professionals and administrative support. Together this team directs the many initiatives of the grant.

Calvin's Lilly Vocation Project has many specific opportunities for Calvin students, faculty and staff to deepen their understanding of Christian vocation. Calvin has received a second Lilly grant that continues to help support::

  • One of the student initiatives is a program called Jubilee Fellows. Twelve juniors and seniors are preparing for 2008 summer internships designed to help them discern their call to ministry as part of this program.
