Summer Sports Camps

Instructional camps for students of all ages are offered throughout the summer. Calvin sports camps allow children ages six through 18 to develop their athletic skills for both play and competition. Sports camps also encourage teamwork, cooperation, a sense of adventure and lots of fun. Registration begins mid-March. Camp selection is made on a first-come, first-served basis.

Chemistry Camps

This camp features demonstrations and many hands-on experiments designed to teach introductory chemical concepts in a way that is fun and entertaining.

The morning and afternoon camps offer different activities and are open to students entering grades 6-8.

Knollcrest Music Camp

Music camp

Designed to help 7th - 12th graders improve as musicians while working together toward a concert performance. This ensemble based, summer day camp is open to instrumental and vocal musicians. Ensembles are bands, jazz bands, string orchestra, choir and musical theatre. Additional classes include piano, dance, hand bells, conducting, listening, and music technology.

Calvin College String Summit

The second annual String Summit is set for August 23-28. The one-week camp provides opportunities for advanced high school and college string students in the west Michigan area to refine repertoire learned over the summer and to prepare for the new school year.

Striving Toward Educational Possibilities (S.T.E.P.)

Striving Toward Educational Possibilities (S.T.E.P.)Designed to introduce student college life, STEP is a simulated college exposure conference for students entering grades 8 through 11.

For three days, students live on campus, experience college life, and learn the necessary steps for college entry. Ultimately, STEP aims to direct students toward post-secondary educational and career options.

Youth Etiquette Camp

Summer 2009 marks our first year of offering the YEC! Middle and high school students will be instructed in proper manners and behaviors that will contribute to a lifetime of success. Through hands-on experiences and fun activities, students will learn that personal etiquette matters as they excel academically, socially, and professionally.

The Youth Etiquette Camp will be held July 27- August 1, 2009. The high school camp will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon, and the middle school camp will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. A final dinner and overnight stay on Calvin's campus will conclude the camp for participants, giving them a chance to practice what they've learned!

The cost for the camp is $125, and each section is limited to 20 students.

If you would like to register for the Youth Etiquette Camp (Y.E.C.), here’s what you need to do:
1. Complete the Registration Form
2. Sign the Release and Waiver of Liability Form
3. Complete the Medical Form
4. Enclose the registration fee of $125.00 (a check or money order made out to “Calvin College”).
5. Return items 1–4 to the Office of Pre-College Programs no later than July 20, 2009.

Designed for children ages 4 to 8 to have a fun hands-on learning experience, the Camp encourages campers to develop a greater understanding and appreciation for God's amazing creation while immersed in the outdoors.
