| Mathematics: Looking for Patterns Explore mathematics that you've never studied in school. In this five-day camp, you will discover patterns, explore how mathematicians think about about problems, learn new strategies, and investigate new mathematical topics. This camp explores completely different topics than last year's camp. |

| Computer Imaginary Worlds Camps Create your own original music video or 2D computer game using MIT's Scratch software. Learn how to make your video or game ideas come alive on the screen! You'll learn problem-solving skills, how to use sound and sound-effects, how computer animation works, and how to publish your project on the world-wide web. At the end, you'll take home a flash drive containing your project and your own copy of Scratch. |

Information
Who should attend – Students who love learning and are challenged by complexity will benefit from the individual attention that is possible because of small class size and excellent instruction from college professors and master teachers. Qualifying Test Scores - A copy of one of the following qualifying test scores must be submitted: Midwest Academic Talent Search (ACT, SAT or EXPLORE); 95th percentile on an achievement test (CTBS, Stanford, Iowa, etc.); or MEAP Level 1 (Advanced). If test scores are not available call 526-6200 or e-mail eas22@calvin.edu for a parent nomination form. Registration and Confirmation – Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, with notifications of acceptance sent by e-mail or postcard beginning in March, 2009. Applications received after June 1 will be honored only if space is available. Cancellation Policy – Prior to June 15, fees minus 10% will be refunded upon receipt of a written request for cancellation. Fees – All instruction, supervision, materials, supplies and an ACE t-shirt are covered by the listed fee. Snacks and lunches are not provided. Financial Aid – Information and applications for partial financial aid are available upon request to those who qualify for federal free or reduced lunch programs. GTRN is a volunteer, membership-supported organization that provides important activities for gifted students and families in West Michigan. Members receive advance notification of camps and special events throughout the year, regular newsletters, networking opportunities and discounted admission to programs and events.
