On Campus
Spanish House
The Spanish House provides an excellent opportunity for students to live together in order to improve their oral Spanish and participate in special cultural events. For the 2006-2007 school year the Spanish House is located in Knollcrest Apartments.
Spanish Table
The Spanish table meets weekly over dinner for stimulating conversation in Spanish with faculty, staff, and students. The Spanish House members form the core of this activity, but all other students interested in practicing their Spanish conversational skills (and meeting new Spanish-speaking friends) are encouraged to attend. Look for the sign.
Spanish Chapel
Spanish students and professors come together to praise the Lord in Spanish each Tuesday from 10:00 to 10:20 a.m. Our meeting place is the Meeter Center Lecture Hall, right off the Library Lobby.
Enlace
Enlace , the electronic newsletter for Spanish students, majors, and minors, is sent every week during the semester. Be sure to read this newsletter for information on up-coming events and opportunities.

Community Events and Resources
The census of 2000 indicated that 40,583 Hispanics live in Kent County, Michigan, including 25,818 within Grand Rapids. These numbers translate into large numbers of stores and restaurants serving Hispanics, Spanish-speaking churches, local Spanish language periodicals and radio programs, downtown fiestas to celebrate el dieciséis de septiembre and el cinco de mayo , and much more. For further information, check the list of Hispanic contacts given near the end of this handbook--and read Enlace.
Roelofs, Ted. "Hispanic numbers double in Ottawa , triple in Kent ," Grand Rapids Press . March 29, 2001.
