Teaching Units: La ciudad "La ciudad" is a unit for first-year Spanish students. New vocabulary words dealing with common places and stores in the neighborhood are presented through a Power Point lesson, and students make choices about what kind of neighborhood they would like to live in and how much they would pay for a house. An audio clip of a young man’s return to Guatemala City, the city of his childhood, is also included. Randy Vis wrote this unit for Prof. David Smith’s foreign language methodology class at Calvin College (Grand Rapids, MI).
