Professor Cheryl Brandsen received her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Work from Michigan State University and her M.S.W. from the University of Michigan. She worked for several years in child welfare doing counseling, training, and administration.

Prof. Brandsen's current research interests include gerontology, particularly long-term care, end-of-life care, and health care policy. Cheryl teaches Sociology of the Family, Social Gerontology, and Sociology of Death and Dying.
