Rick Chamiec-Case Rick Chamiec-Case, Ph.D., MSW, MAR came to Calvin College in the fall of 2006 as an assistant professor of social work. He has also served as the executive director of the North American Association of Christians in Social Work since 1997. A graduate of Fordham University, the University of Connecticut School of Social Work, Yale Divinity School, and Wheaton College, Pro. Chamiec-Case's research and scholarship are in the areas of spirituality in the workplace, the integration of spirituality and social work practice, and faith-based social services. Prof. Chamiec-Case has authored or co-authored several articles including "Exploring How Social Work Administrators Integrate Spirituality in the Workplace" (Christianity and Social Work, 2006), "Spirituality and Religiosity of Homeless Individuals: A Preliminary Investigation" (Arete, 2005), "Before-and After-the Political Rhetoric: Faith-based Child and Family Welfare Services" (Social Work and Christianity, 2005), and "Supporting Families of Persons with a Disability: A Judeo-Christian Perspective" (Journal of Religion in Disability and Rehabilitation, 1994). He has also contributed a chapter entitled "The Faith Connections Approach: Working Toward the Full Inclusion of People with Developmental Disabilities in the Life and Worship of Congregations," which appeared as chapter 20 in Beryl Hugen and T. Laine Scales, editors, Social Work and Christianity: Readings on the Integration of Christian Faith and Social Work Practice 2nd Edition, (2002). Prof. Chamiec-Case also worked for a number of years as Senior Vice President at ARI of Connecticut, whose mission it is to provide homes, jobs, and opportunities for people with disabilities and their families. He has several previous practice experiences in administering clinical, case management, quality assurance, family support, staff training, and management information services for people with disabilities like mental retardation. He has written and presented at conferences on various topics addressing the integration of spirituality and faith with various management and disability issues. Dr. Chamiec-Case is married to Mary, and has two children, Linda and Elizabeth and a niece, Anna, who lives with the family.
