Transfer credit is used by many people in many different circumstances. Calvin accepts new transfer students, many new Calvin students come in with dual enrolled credits, some Calvin students take courses for transfer during their four years.
Transfer students are always welcome to join the Calvin student body. We will work to make your transition into the Calvin community as smooth as possible and assist you in your degree completion. An official transfer evaluation is conducted when you apply to the college and is mailed with admissions acceptance packages.
Calvin will grant transfer credit for course-work completed at accredited institutions. To receive credit, the courses must be academic and similar in nature to courses offered at Calvin. You must earn a minimum grade of C for a course to be accepted.
While there is no limit to the amount of transfer credit accepted from four-year institutions, you may only transfer up to 70 semester hours from a community college or two-year institution.
Regardless of credit transferred from other institutions, in order to graduate from Calvin, you must complete a mimimum of four upper-level
courses in your major and at least 30 of the last 60 semester hours at Calvin. In addition, you must complete one interim course for each year in residence.
- One Biblical/Theological Core must be taken at Calvin.
- Developing a Christian Mind, and Integrative Studies Core must be taken at Calvin.
- At least four upper-level courses in your major must be completed at Calvin.
