The Debra Deur Scholarship
Background
This scholarship was established by Dr. Charles Deur in memory and honor of his wife Debra, who put her Christian faith into practice in many roles. Though Debra did not attend Calvin, she always enjoyed her visits to the college and enthusiastically supported Calvin to help give students the Christian education she never had.
Amount
Three scholarships of $3,800 each for 2013-2014
Criteria
- Major in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Geology, Integrated Science, or Physics
- Current Calvin student planning to enroll full time the following year
- Entering Sophomore, Junior or Senior year
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Some evidence of financial need
- This scholarship is automatically renewable if a grade point average of 3.00 or higher is maintained. Thus, a new scholarship may not be awarded every year.
