The Office of Academic Services provides training in the English language to those students who score below a certain cut point on a locally administered placement test. The ASC 003 course helps prepare students to write at the college level and more specifically to be prepared for the expectations of English 101 at Calvin.

Beyond ESL training, international students are provided with a special advisor who plans special activities for the group as a whole and also helps them deal with a multitude of issues. Questions of insurance, financial aid, and social adjustment are routinely addressed by this office.
