Webmail FAQ
The following are common questions and problems
people have when learning about webmail?
- I can't seem to login to webmail.
- What if I just can't get it?
I can't seem to login to webmail.
- Make sure your account is active. If you have not
activated your Knightvision account, your email account is not active.
Go to http://kv.calvin.edu to activate your account.
- Make sure you are using your username (2 or 3 letters
and number, e.g. abc1) and not your email alias and it is in lowercase.
- Make sure that CAPS LOCK is off. Passwords and logins
are case sensitive - upper and lowercase letters makes a difference.
- Make sure you have the right password. If you changed
your password for KnightVision, it will change your email password.
- Still stuck? Change your password at secure services
(http://authenticator.calvin.edu - Select "Change Knightvision
Password") or contact the ITC support staff (526-6439 or ext. 66439)
or the Helpdesk (helpdesk@calvin.edu, 526-8845 or ext. 68845).
What if I
just can't get it?
If there is an aspect of webmail that you do
not understand:
- Take a break and/or try to go through the instructions carefully
step by step again. Sometimes when learning a new skill it
is easy to skip a step.
- Ask a classmate, friend, or peer for assistance.
This may include working through the tutorial at the same time as someone
else taking the class. If you get stuck, have someone demonstrate how
to do it, then do it a few times yourself.
- Look up your problem in the Help Menu. Take advantage
of the help resources offered in Webmail .
- Ask an ITC staff member for assistance. While the
ITC staff are not able to do your homework, they can demonstrate if
you get stuck on a particular skill. Their job is not to teach you the
entire tutorial. One objective of RIT is to teach you how to learn independently.
- Ask your professor. Your professor will be able to
answer questions for you if you get stuck. Be prepared to demonstrate/tell
your professor what you have tried so far.
