Dreamweaver Checklist

The following checklist includes all the Dreamweaver skills you need to understand and be able to perform for IDIS 110 (RIT). Print a copy of it out to use as a guide and self-study sheet.

• Define your Site (use the website setup instructions) including:
  • Local information
  • Web server information
  • FTP information
    
• Preview the webpage (File > Preview in Browser)
  
• View the code of a webpage (View > Code and Design)
  
• In the Dreamweaver environment, know how to locate and use
  • The property inspector to:
    • To insert, edit, and format text
    • To insert images
  • The panels (Window > Select appropriate panel)
  • The insert bar
• Properties of a webpage including knowing how to: (Modify > Page Properties)
  • Name your webpage
  • Save your work
  • Give your webpage a title
  • Change page properties
  • Define text and link colors
  • Complete page properties
• Format text (Properties Inspector)
  • Apply headings
  • Change the font
  • Change the font size
  • Apply font color
• Working with Images
• Insert an image (Insert > Image)
• Select an image
• Resize an image
• Modify image attributes
• Work with links including
  • Know the difference between:
    • relative links
    • absolute links
    • mailto link
  • Create (Properties Inspector OR Insert > Hyperlink or Email Link)
    • relative links
    • absolute links
    • mailto: link
• Work with tables including:
• Create a table (Insert > Table)
• Set table properties (Properties Inspector)
• Add text to a table
• Add images to a table
  
• Why to label your primary page index.htm
  
• Publish your website using the website setup instructions.
  • Connect to Calvin’s server
  • Locate your local and remote files
  • Transfer your files to Calvin’s server
  • Disconnect from Calvin’s server
  • Update your files when you make changes
