| The IDIS 110 Exemption Exam | |||
The next exemption exam is scheduled for October 14 and 15, 2008.
IDIS 110: Foundations of Information Technology (or one of its equivalents, CS 108: Introduction to Computing and ENGR 101: Introduction to Engineering Design) is required of all Calvin students in order to meet the information technology core requirement. This requirement may also be satisfied by taking and passing an exemption exam. (IDIS 110 is sometimes called FIT.) The exam has two parts: an objective section (multiple choice, true/false, multiple answer) and a practical section (manipulating a spreadsheet, creating a webpage, and writing a short essay using a word processor). Reviewing the material on the exam preparation page can increase your chances for passing the exam. Students will receive a grade of "pass" or "fail" and will be notified via e-mail; no credit for the course will be given. A $15.00 fee will be charged to the student's account. The exam will be administered online, within KnightVision, and students must be able to log in to both their Novell and KnightVision accounts before coming to the exam session. The exam is given using Office 2007.
Additional information will be sent to students who register for the exam. Click here to register online. Questions may be sent to the FIT assistant coordinator.
