Psychology 151 Honors

COURSE DESCRIPTION

An orientation to many of the central concerns of psychology, this course includes considerations in such issues as perception and consciousness, learning and memory, motivation and emotion, personality development and social interaction, stress and adjustment. Students are introduced to the methods of psychological research and to the role of psychology in scientific endeavor and human application.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
  • To introduce and evaluate psychology's primary ways of asking and answering questions about human behavior and experience.
  • To provide an overview of the major conceptual frameworks, important research findings, and key concepts of contemporary psychology.
  • To foster your understanding of yourself and others as created persons and to discern both grace and brokenness in your own and others' lives.
  • To evaluate psychology's theories and claims from within the framework of a Reformed Christian worldview and to explore the discipline's implications for Christian living
