Medical and Dental School Acceptance Information

Each year approximately 20-25 Calvin students apply to medical or dental schools in the United States and Canada. The data below is generated on the basis of all Calvin students who apply, not just those students whom we "approve" (as some institutions do). Therefore, these numbers are not inflated. We do not forbid any student from applying, although we may advise the lesser qualified student to consider pursuing an alternate career. The ten-year period is used rather than any one year since that gives a more accurate estimate of our success.
2000 to 2009
Pre-med applicants - 258
Pre-med acceptances - 211
Percent accepted - 82%
Pre-dent applicants - 23
Pre-dent acceptances - 20
Percent accepted - 87%
Most of our Pre-Med and Pre-Dent students are accepted into the state schools of the states in which they are residents or into private schools, particularly in the Midwest. Since most of our students come from Michigan and Illinois, most of our students are accepted into schools in those states.
