Teaching Political Science

Secondary Education Political Science Minor (21 sem. hrs.)

To get a minor in political science along with your secondary education major, you must take the following courses:

  • Political Science 101, 202, 207
  • Political Science 240 and 251
  • Political Science (272, 275, 276, 277, 279, 308, or 319)
  • one advisor approved elective
  • one interim or advisor approved elective

Elementary Social Studies Group Major (37-39 sem. hrs.)

To fulfill the requirements of the elementary social studies group major, you must take at least two courses in political science along with two courses from the following disciplines: economics, geography and history.

In addition, you must complete a sequence of courses from one of the above disciplines chosen in consultation with a social studies education advisor.

Elementary Social Studies Group Minor (28-29 sem. hrs.)

An elementary social studies group minor requires 28-29 semester hours distributed in the following manner:

  • Economics 221 and 222
  • Geography 110
  • one course from Geography (210, 230, 310, or 320)
  • one course from History 229, (151 or 152)
  • one course from Political Science 101 and 202
