Political science majors, particularly those who do not anticipate pursuing either law school or some graduate program shortly after graduation, are encouraged to enroll in internship programs.

There are several ways to gain hands-on experience in jobs related to political science:

  • Apply to go to Washington, D.C. on the department's off-campus semester. Learn more about this opportunity.
  • Take POLS 380, a seminar course which includes an internship in state and local government. Contact Professor James Penning for more info.
  • Enroll in an Independent Study (390) and arrange an appropriate internship with Career Development .
  • Apply to the Comenius Scholars program in the spring to get a paid for-credit internship at an area non-profit organization the following fall.
