Recent graduates: where they are now

Michael Drake ('05) graduated in September 2007 from Durham University in England with a Master' s Degree in international relations, East Asia. He is currently pursuing a career in International affairs, looking specifically at certain federal agencies in Washington D.C..

Joshua Wierenga ('05) is a 1/2 time pastor at Real Life Fellowship Church in Holland, MI.. He attends Western Theological Seminary and expects to graduate with a MDiv in May 2008.

Alison (Hoff) Miles ('05) is working as a customs and international trade consultant for Deloitte in Chicago, IL.

danielpalmer Daniel Palmer ('05) is employed as a Graphic Designer at Goshen College in Goshen, IN. and also, an Art Director for Goshen College Bulletin and for New World Arts (a not-for-profit theatre in Goshen, Ind.). He does freelance work as print and web designer locally and nationally. He is planning on going to graduate school in the Fall of 2008.

sarahberg Sarah Berg ('06) is working for Keel Point, LLC, a private wealth management firm in the DC area.

Steven Buter ('06) works as a Local Government Management Fellow with the City of University Place, WA. The fellowship program is run by the International City-County Managers Association (ICMA)

Lauren Dillon('06) is the Communications Coordinator/Development Assistant for Sunshine Gospel Ministries located on the South side of Chicago.

Amber Flora-Holmquis ('06) received in 2007 a LLM in Human Rights and is working as a legal secretary for Hogan and Dean.

Linnea Minnema ('06) is a grant associate in charge of Federal program grants for five National Heritage Academies in North Carolina.

Ryan Nickel ('06) works as an executive assistant for Catalist LLC, an IT consultant and data vendor for progressive organizations/campaigns, specializing in microtargeting and voter files.

Amanda Whitcomb ('06) is a technical writer and editor with GE Aviation in Grand Rapids, MI.

Stephen Capp ('07) works as a policy associate for the National Taxpayers Union.

Paul Davis ('07) is teaching in a First Nations community in Tadoule Lake, Manitoba in northern Canada. It is a fly-in community of just under 500 persons.

Megan Diekema ('07) is in Washington DC working as the Membership Assistant at the Direct Selling Association (DSA), the trade association and lobby for
direct selling companies, such as Amway, Mary Kay, and Avon, among over
200 other companies.

Joel Kamstra ('07) is an Investment Advisor for Grubb and Ellis Paramont Commerce.

Lyndi Katje ('07) is an admissions counselor at Calvin College.

 


heidi-smilde Heidi Smilde ('07) works as an Audit Associate for KPMG, an accounting firm in Orange County, CA.

Heather Sparks ('07) is a teacher's aid at an elementary school in Loveland, Co. She is considering returning to school for a teaching certification.

Andrew Vlietstra Andrew Vlietstra ('07) works for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System.

Anne Venhuizen ('05) is a law student at New York University Law School. She expects to graduate in May 2009.

jim_ligtenberg James Ligtenberg ('06) started law school at Yale in the Fall of 2007.

William Lowery ('06) expects to finish law school at George Mason University in Arlington, Va. in May of 2010.

Luke McReynolds ('06) started Thomas M. Cooley Law School in the Fall of 2007.

nathaniel_fischer Nathaniel Fischer ('07) in the Fall of '07 started the JD program at Harvard Law School.

Christine Holst ('07) is attending the University of Illinois Law School in Champain-Urbana. She will graduate Spring 2010.

melissa_rick Melissa Rick ('07) is a first year law studet at Boston University school of Law.
NateBulthuis Nate Bulthuis ('05) expects to graduate from Yale in the Spring of 2008 with a masters in Religion. He then hopes to start working on a doctorate program in Philosophy or Religion.
maycheng May Cheng ('05) is pursuing a graduate degree in Public Administration at Western Michigan University.

Stephen Roberts ('05) is an Army Reserve Chaplain Candidate (2nd LT.) and a student at Westminster Seminary California. He anticipates graduating with a M.Div degree in May 2008.

catie_hilbelink Catie (Schierbeek) Hilbelink ('06) attends Michigan State Universit as a student working toward a masters in Public Policy. She is also working there as a graduate assistant.
   
deborah_kwak Deborah Kwak ('06) expects to graduate in May 2009 with a Masters in Peace Studies from the Joan B. Krock Institute of International Peace studies, University of Notre Dame.

Faith Nguru ('06) in the Fall of 2007 started at Loyola University Chicago as a MBA student.

Heather Van Mouwerik ('06) is a part-time post-graduate student studying the Russian language at the Univesity of Washington.

Amanda Bruehl ('07) is pursuing a masters degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Non-Profit Management and Leadership at Grand Valley State University. Her expected graduation date is Spring 2009.

Michael Botting in Africa Michael Botting ('05) works in Malawi for Emmanuel International, a Christian relief and development NGO. He is the Grant Manager and Program Coordinator for a five year $2.5 million dollar development project being funded by USAID.

Matthew Anderson ('06) is a volunteer teacher with the Peace Corps in Nicaragua. He teaches business/productivity at various high schools.

Audra Groenendal ('06) is employed by the Housing Counseling Services, which is a housing non-profit in Washington, DC. She works with the emergency Rental Assistance Program which helps people avoid becoming and staying homeless
by providing funds to pay back rent or first month's rent and security
deposit.

Suzanna Klaucke ('06) is the Communications Associate in Public Relations at the non-profit Save the Children based in Westport, CT.

Austin Graff ('07) works in the church mobilization department at the International Justice Mission in the Washington D.C. area.

grace_miguel Grace Miguel ('07) is a fellow for the Association for a Just Society, a Christian human rights NGO in Tegucigaloa, Honduras. She works as the communictions coordinator.
AbigailRockey Abigail Rockey ('07) is participating in the Teach for America Corps program in Philadelphia.
Mary Stata Mary Stata ('07) until July 2009 she will be teaching English to nursing students for the Mennonite Central committee in Dhamtari, India.
MandieStehle Amanda Stehle ('07) is a Coro Fellow at the Coro Center for Civic Leadership Pittsburgh. She is in a nine month experiential graduate fellowship in public affairs that places students in governmental nonprofit and business situations. Essentially we are consultants for public affairs. Her term will end in the Spring of 2008.
AmyVanNocker Amy Van Nocker ('07) is living in Costa Rica (thru Dec. '07) volunteering with an environmental education Non-Government Organization that deals with organic agriculture.

James Schmidt ('06) works as a legislative director for Dana Rohrabacher, member of congress.
