Secondary education political science minor (21 sem. hrs.)
To get a minor in political science along with your secondary education major, you must take the following courses:
- Political Science 101, 202, 207
- Political Science 240 or 251
- Political Science (272, 275, 276, 277, 279, 308, or 319)
- Interdisciplinary 375
- one interim or advisor approved elective
Secondary social studies group major
- Economics 221 and 222
- Geography 110 and 210
- History 151, 152 and 22
- Political Science 101 and 202
- Interdisciplinary 205, 375 and 359
Students pursuing the secondary social studies major must also complete a history major or a minor in economics, geography, or political science. Courses are allowed to overlap between the social studies major and the disciplinary major and minor.
Elementary social studies group major (37-39 semester hrs.)
To fulfill the requirements of the elementary social studies group major, you must take at least two courses in political science along with two courses from the following disciplines: economics, geography and history.

In addition, you must complete a sequence of courses from one of the above disciplines chosen in consultation with a social studies education advisor.

Elementary social studies group minor (28-29 sem. hrs.)
An elementary social studies group minor requires 28-29 semester hours distributed in the following manner:
- Economics 221 and 222
- Geography 110
- one course from Geography (210, 230, 310, or 320)
- one course from History 229, (151 or 152)
- Political Science 101 and 202
