Academics: Minors

Political science minor (21 credit hours)

To get a minor in political science you must do 21 credit hours of work. The courses should be distributed in the following manner:

  • one course in American politics (101, 202, 209, 212, 234, 237, 310, or 318)
  • one course in international politics (207, 218, 228, 304, 309, or 319)
  • one course from comparative politics (214, 276, 277, 279, 301, 307, 321, or 322,)
  • one course in political theory ( 110, 240, or 306)
  • nine additional semester hours from the department, which may include one approved interim and/or three internship credits

International relations minor (21 credit hours)

To get a minor in international relations you must complete 21 credit hours of work. The courses you take should be distributed in the following way:

  • International Cooperation and Conflict (207)
  • Governments and Globalization (214)
  • One course comparative politics (208, 276, 277, 279, 301, 307, 321, 322,)
  • One course from International politics (218, 228, 304, 309, 319)
  • One course from American politics or political thought (101, 110, 202, 209, 212, 234, 237, 240, 306, 310,or 318)
  • Six additional semester hours from the department (may include one approved interim course and/or three internship credits)
