Seeing politics with new eyes

Political science at Calvin College goes beyond red and blue to give you a new way of seeing how systems of power work in the world.

Seven full-time professors work to integrate faith and learning in the classroom in a way that doesn't simply defend Christian faith and values from secular perspectives. You will be challenged to encounter the complex world of politics, carefully considering how governmental institutions promote justice throughout society.

What's more, professors strive to impart the kind of wisdom and understanding that gets you beyond the classroom and on your way to serving God and society.

Major programs provide broad liberal arts education

Major programs within the political science department are designed to ensure that you are broadly trained and well-acquainted with the different areas of study associated with politics. As a major in the political science department, then, you will take classes in the following areas:

In addition to the knowledge base you build in the classroom, you will have many opportunities to gain experience in areas associated with political science.
