The Lost Galaxy

When a closer photo is taken, this Lost Galaxy is said to be very bright and large. It is surrounded by two magnitude 7 stars, which upstage the galaxy a bit because they are so bright. The lost Galaxy  is a lenticular galaxy. A lenticular galaxy is somewhere between a spiral galaxy and an elliptical galaxy because it has components of each of these two types of galaxies. It is disc-like, similar to a spiral galaxy and yet it has aging stars, similar to an elliptical galaxy. It has lost most of its interstellar matter and does not contain much star formation. It is 55 plus or minus 5 million Light years away. The Lost Galaxy is also part of the Virgo Cluster which is in the Virgo Constellation.   This Cluster is about 59 plus or minus 4 million light years away. The Lost Galaxy is 1 of 1300-2000 members in the Virgo Cluster. This Cluster is in the middle of local Supercluster . The Local group is also a member of this Supercluster.

As your eye travels from the core of the galaxy to the edge, the brightness dwindles. it appears as though the galaxy is covered by a dirty sock. It's angular size is approximately 1.9 arc minutes.The linear size is about 30000 light years. This galaxy should be called "the Found" galaxy from now on!
