Academic programs in physics and astronomy

Most programs offered in physics and astronomy are designed to be flexible: they work well with other programs such as engineering, chemistry and pre-medicine. If you're interested in a career or graduate school in physics, astronomy and/or optics, explore the in-depth physics major. Also check out our goals for graduates.

Undecided between Physics and Engineering?

If you are undecided between Engineering and Physics, you have some time at Calvin to decide. You can take up to three semesters at Calvin and still finish in four years with a degree in one area or the other, as long as you plan your courses carefully. See more details and sample schedules.
