• Limit of 20 teams per session.  All matches will be played at Calvin College.

Program:

Session A will focus on 3 main goals:  1) introducing the game of volleyball and how it is played including teaching the rules and basic strategies, 2) introducing the proper mechanics of the skills and movement patterns needed to perform skills correctly, and 3) making camp fun so that the girls will come away with loving the game of volleyball and experiencing success.

Sessions B, C, and H will focus on training volleyball players to elevate their level of play in all areas of the game (serving, receiving, setting, passing, hitting, and blocking).  Focus will be on teaching offensive and defensive systems as well as multi-tempoed offensive plays while training players in agility, flexibility, vertical jumping and transitioning.

Sessions D-F (small group lessons) will focus on specific position training in which players will get individual feedback & training from Calvin’s coaching staff. Our goal is for each camper is to become more technically sound as well as to work on advanced skills within each position.

Session G (ID Elite Camp) is meant to be a high level teaching and training camp for female high schoolers planning to play volleyball at the collegiate level. The camp looks to introduce players to the technical and tactical training used by the Calvin College women’s volleyball program.  With sessions run by the Calvin College coaching staff, campers will get the truest taste of what it is like to play for the Knights and learn more about the goals and philosophy of Calvin College Volleyball. There will be pizza provided after the Thursday evening session and lunch provided between the two sessions on Friday.  There is also an option of having a tour and meeting with the admission department on Thursday afternoon before camp starts.  Please contact Coach Warners directly if you need transportation to and from the airport. Housing is not provided.
Sessions I-L will focus mainly on positions with the addition of spending time on serving and ball control drills.  Focus will be on footwork, refining techniques, giving repetitions for each skill but also focusing on learning the strategies of each position. A written evaluation will also be given to each player.

Sessions C & H-L will need each participant to bring their own lunch and drink.

Lodging is not available for any of these individual camps.

**If you have a daughter who is more advanced for her grade level or has been playing on a team with girls from a higher grade, contact Coach Warners at 616-526-6223 or awarners@calvin.edu for advice on camp placement.
