• Limit of 20 teams per session. All matches will be played at Calvin College.
Program:
Session A will focus on 3 main goals: 1) introducing the game of volleyball and how it is played including teaching the rules and basic strategies, 2) introducing the proper mechanics of the skills and movement patterns needed to perform skills correctly, and 3) making camp fun so that the girls will come away with loving the game of volleyball and experiencing success.
Sessions B, C, and D will focus on training volleyball players to elevate their level of play in all areas of the game (serving, receiving, setting, passing, hitting, and blocking). Focus will be on teaching offensive and defensive systems as well as multi-tempoed offensive plays while training players in agility, flexibility, vertical jumping and transitioning.
Sessions E-H will focus mainly on positions with the addition of spending time on serving and ball control drills. Focus will be on footwork, refining techniques, giving repetitions for each skill but also focusing on learning the strategies of each position. A written evaluation will also be given to each player.
Sessions C-H will need each participant to bring their own lunch and drink.
Sessions A-H: Each participant will be given a volleyball or t-shirt as well as other volleyball gifts.
**If you have a daughter who is more advanced for her grade level or has been playing on a team with girls from a higher grade, contact Coach Warners at 616-526-6223 or awarners@calvin.edu for advice on camp placement.
