Sports Camps: Softball 2009

Dates/Times Summer 2009:

Session A: General Skills Camp- Players entering Grades 2 – 6
June 15-17 (M-W), 10:00am – 12:00pm

Session B: Offensive Skills Camp – Players entering Grades 7 – 12
June 15-17 (M-W), 1:00 – 3:00pm

Session C: General Skills Camp – Players entering Grades 7 – 12
July 20-24 (M-F), 10:00am – 12:00pm

Session D: Pitching and Catching  Camp – Players entering Grades 7 – 12
July 20-24 (M-F), 1:00 – 3:00pm

Program:

Softball campSession A: General Instruction
The softball instructional sessions are geared for players who wish to learn the basic skills of the game.  The players will have an opportunity to work on all areas of their game - hitting, fielding, diving, sliding, game play, bunting, and more.  There will be use of pitching machines and batting cages. 

Session B: Offensive Skills Instruction
This session will primarily focus on offensive skill development.  We will focus on hitting, slapping, bunting, base running, sliding, rounding bases, lead offs, steals and more.  Players will be taught different techniques and approaches and will be able to put what they have learned into game situations.

Session C: Skills
This session has several specific emphases; teaching the skills of infield and outfield play and the mental game that goes along with these positions.  This session is for players who are looking to elevate their level of softball.  The players will be taught the different positional responsibilities for infield and outfield positions.  They will also be taught various skills and techniques for hitting.

Session D: Pitching and Catching
This session will allow players to focus on pitching and catching.  We will be teaching them the skills needed to be a solid pitcher/catcher.  They will also learn what type of mentality they will need to have in order to be successful behind the plate or on the mound.  They will learn different drills and advanced skills that they can take with them to practice even after the camp concludes.

Registration Information

Walk-in registration will begin Monday, April 20.

Cost:

Sessions A-D: $80 ($40 due with registration)
A camp T-shirt in included in the fee.

Location:

Campers will meet the first day at the Calvin Softball Field located at the Gainey Athletic Fields on East Paris, just south of Lake Drive.
