Welcome to Outdoor Recreation at Calvin College! For those who are new to the campus or program, the HPERDS Department and Calvin Outdoor Recreation offer the following opportunities:
- COURSES IN WILDERNESS PURSIUT AND OUTDOOR RECREATION: Climbing, Backpacking, Road Cycling, Canoeing, Sea Kayaking, Fly Fishing, Downhill Skiing and Snowboarding.
- FREE ROCK CLIMBING: Instruction, programming, and open climbing in the new Spoelhof Fieldhouse Complex.
- OUTDOOR EQUIPMENT RENTAL: Packs, Bags, Pads, Canoes, Sea Kayaks, Road Bikes available for rental.
- ADVENTURE GRANTS: Organize a group, plan a trip, apply for funding…then have an EPIC!
- WEEKEND TRIPS: Rock Cimbing, Backpacking, Cycling, Skiing, Snowboarding, and Boating.
- WILDERNESS BASED INTERIM COURSES: Costa Rica and Panama Rainforest Outward Bound, Florida Everglades, Grand Canyon Outdoor Educator, Australia Road Biking.
- OUTDOOR PROFESSIONAL PARTNERSHIPS: For credit and professional development opportunities with the National Outdoor Leadership School, Wilderness Medical Institute, the American Mountain Guide Association, and the American Canoe Association.
- WILDERNESS ORIENTATION COURSES: Begin your Calvin career with an extended backcountry trip to the Rockies, North Channel, Red River Gorge, or Algonquin.
